2016.5 - Channel Box drag speed

Short version: How do I change the speed of the Channel Box's click-and-drag value changer?

Full version:

I'm testing out Maya 2016.5 (2016 Extension 2).  In previous versions, you could click on an attribute name in the Channel Box, and then middle-mouse click-and-drag in the viewport to change that attribute's value.  In 2016.5, you can still do that, and you can also left-click-and-drag on an attribute value in the Channel Box to change it.  However, I can't find an option to change the increment of the value change.  In previous versions, there were some icons at the top right of the Channel Box that you could use to change the speed.  They are gone in 2016.5.  Is there a preference somewhere to set the speed?  Or a keyboard shortcut, maybe?

Okay, I found the settings that change the middle-mouse-button drag.  It is in the menu at the top of the Channel Box: "Edit > Settings".

But I still can't find anything to change the left-mouse-button drag.  Maybe that is something different entirely.  It seems like it snaps to integer values.  Haven't found any documentation about it so far, but I will keep looking.

No luck finding anything on the right-mouse-button drag.  I will assume that it is just a quick "snap to integer" option and there is no way to adjust it.  (Like "snap to 0.5" or "snap to 10".)  Maybe in the future there will be something in the documentation.

Anyways, always fun playing with new things.

Apparently they changed the way you manipulate channel box values. To adjust you need to left click in the tiny value box and hold down the ctrl button for fine tuning. It feels a bit clumsy, with things always swinging out before you adjust back in. I really hate change for changes sake, especially something so fundamental. Is there a setting to revert back to the old way?

In addition to this, the new movement is very erratic. Left clicking in the box and sliding results in jittery movement of whatever you are trying to manipulate. Compare this to the super smooth motion of doing this to the values in the attribute editor. Really would love to know this is being addressed. It's really making doing nice camera work difficult.

I just tried it out myself and I think you have hit some issues that I at least haven’t seen logged yet.  I will get them logged as defects in our system and hopefully get someone on them soon.

My guess is that the icons in the Channel Box were removed in order to save space, either because they were little used or there were hotkeys that people use instead of the actual buttons, but I am hitting some issues enabling the options through the menu items.

I’m currently running a few different cuts of Maya, including daily builds that haven’t been released yet, so I’ll have to get QA to confirm all the issues I’m seeing really are regressions in the latest public release of Maya, but if they are then we should get them fixed and out there in some kind of Service Pack.

Oh, thanks.  I didn't think about holding down modifier keys while dragging.  So after a bit more experimentation, here is what it seems to be doing:

  • L-click and drag: adjust values and snap to integer values
  • Ctrl-L-click and drag: slower speed, snapping to 0.1 increments
  • Shift-L-click and drag: faster speed, snapping to integer values

Hey - I'm also having this issue in tracking.
I'd like to look through the lens at an object that's far away, and have control in 0.001 increments. Set to slow, or with ctrl held down I'm getting 0.01 max, which isn't accurate enough.

Anyone any idea if there's a way to increase the precision of the 'slow' option?
