Maya LT crashes 50% of the time on export to FBX

Like the topic said, I export (to new fbx file) Maya crashes, restart do the same thing again, works. This is almost exactly 50% of the time I do this, which is alot considering I´m in the middle of a game production.

Is there any best practises/bulletproof ways of doing this (atm my settings are: all unchecked except for triangulate)?

My setup:

Maya LT ext 2

FBX plugin version 2014.1

MBP Retina, late 2013, 2.6GHz i7, 16GB, GT 750M 2048 MB

OS X 10.9.1

Thanks in advance!

I've not had any trouble with FBX export myself. I do it all the time. Could you post the file you are having trouble with? I can certainly have a look.

Another thing you could try on your own is deconstruct the file and export it in pieces, perhaps it is one specific item causing the problem.

I usually do this two ways, assuming there are lights, cameras, animation, rigs and geometry in a scene.  I will delete everything in the scene except for the geometry and export that.  If there aren't any problems, I'll reopen the original scene and export geo with the rig (no animation) and see if that crashes.  I keep doing that until the scene is reassembled, I can usually find the problem quickly using this method.

The other way you can try is by playing with the FBX export settings.  There, you can uncheck lights, cameras, animation and skins so that only your geometry and skeleton is exported, then repeat while checking on the different elements in the settings.  Alternately, you can use Export Selection and choosing things one by one to see if you can find the problematic item.

The third alternative is what Matthew has mentioned. If you can, attach the file and we'll take a look.  If you are leary about attaching your file to a public forum, you can alwasy send it to me privately at carlos.carpintero@autodesk.com.  Any file we get will remain confidential.

Regards.
