Maya LT & Unreal Engine Scale?

Maya LT & Unreal Engine Scale?

Anonymous
Not applicable

I have modelled a very simple building that I want to bring accross to unreal for a test level. But after using Send to Unreal it appears waaaaaay too small - First, I hit send to unreal, and make sure I am doing it with centimeters set as my units.

undefined

Then I import it in unreal engine 4 - Using the scale of 1.00 because one unreal unit == 1 cm.

undefined

The below image shows how small the resulting model is though. Which is obviously not what I am looking for. I would like this to be identical to the size it was over in Maya.

undefined

Any Ideas?

Hi,

While it is unfortunate that your game is not about the trials and tribulations of being a giant, perhaps the issue lies in the units set in the Maya Preferences.

Usually leaving the file units conversion to automatic works well.

Perhaps your scene size is set to meters in the preferences and you are exporting as centimeters.  This would cause a 100x smaller scale when going to Unreal.

I've attached images to show the default preference settings.

Let us know how it works.

Thanks,

Soooo, Turns out I was being a fool!

I had everything set up in centimeters, as working units an exports etc...

So, why didn't it work I hear you all cry? I hear gasps in the audience...

I had my grid set up all wrong, so when I was working with units that looked like they were big and tall, I was infact making models only a few centimeters in height!!!!

Changed my grid settings, zoomed out for a more reasonable look, and everything was perfectly one to one scale.

Thanks for your help!

Ok thanks, Glad to know you got what you needed.

Just to let you know, we know that the grid and size settings are an issue, and we are investigating how to improve this.

Thanks,

Remi
