Hello everyone! I am relatively inexperienced with Maya. I am encountering a very annoying bug and I do not know to solve it or work around it. If I use Soften or Harden edge anywhere on my model (regardless of which edges I am choosing), there are some specific vertices that change position. Look at the video attached in the post for a better overview of the problem.
Does anyone have any idea what the cause for this is? For the record, that particular edge loop that gets affected has been added with the Insert Edge Loop tool, if that has any relevance. I would appreciate it a lot if someone could help me out.
Thanks!
Edit: Some more information. I have been trying things to solve the issue, and it seems that the position of these vertices has been 'saved' somehow and they always return to that same position when I soften or harden any edge. Also, it's very worthwhile to mention that I created a new polygon for a detail on my model and the same thing happens on the new polygon, too. When I harden any edge on polygon B, some vertices on polygon B change position. Could it be that the file is corrupted?
Edit 2: Out of curiosity, I tried exporting the mesh as an .fbx and import it into a new scene and the problem does not get reproduced... I would be very, very grateful if someone can give me an answer as to why this is happening and if there is another, more sensible solution.
