If Maya is set to centimeters, zooming will slow down as you approach a face and keep you from clipping to the inside. This behavior also exists in meters mode but the object has to be 100 times larger, which is confusing and hard to notice without tech support. The issue is when working on a character in meters mode, the camera swoops around way too fast when zooming into details. I think there should be a way to control this so a company can standardize the pipeline to meters if they want, for environment artists and character artists alike, but allow them to control the camera per file.
