Xgen error: Group23296.ptx (Part of path doesn't exist)

Hi guys could someone help me please? im getting this error in xgen and I don't know how to go about it?

  C:/Program Files/Autodesk/Maya2017/plug-ins/xgen/presets/description/groom/region/Group23296.ptx (Part of path doesn't exist)

It happens when I try to create groomable splines on imported geometry.

and another error im getting is this: // Warning: file: C:/Program Files/Autodesk/Maya2017/plug-ins/xgen/scripts/xgmGuide.mel line 238: The associated guide ARM_RIGHT_SARM1_xgGuide5 does not exist. //

I get this error when I use guides as curves. Every time I try to modify it I get this error.

I was trying to look online for some solutions but I cant seem to find any answers.

SO please if anyone knows how to fix this I would be grateful.

thank you

Hello Michael,

What if the file .ptx doesn't exist ? How can we create it to make it works ? And why does the path refer to a file which doesn't exist?

I have the same issue trying to paint a map whereas I just began my scene, and have set project, create uv, put lambert...

Did you try to assign a Lambert Material to the object you want to paint ?

It worked for me. I had the problem when I assigned an aistandardsurface to the head. Assigning a lambert solve it.

Hope it'll work for you !

Setting the material of the model that xgen is using to a default lambert shader fixed the issue for me

I solved the problem that I had regarding the fact that the hair could not be seen in xgen, or it seemed that it did not generate it, you just have to deactivate the button "use default material" which is in the viewport bar

i have got the same problem on Maya 2024.....

I set my project in a different directory

Xgen keeps looking on Autodesk directory.

C:/Program Files/Autodesk/Maya2024/plug-ins/xgen/presets/top_head/paintmaps/mask/body_final.ptx (Part of path doesn't exist)

WHY WHY WHY WHY?
