Hi @Anonymous!

What version of Windows 8.1 are you running 32 bit or 64 bit? Maya 2015 is not supported with 32 bit windows 8.1 so that could cause problems.

Another step that might work:

  • Create an empty scene
  • Create a cube
  • Enter 'shaded mode' (press the '5' key)
  • Toggle X Ray Shading to see if it works.

Hopefully this helps but let me know if this still occurs and we can troubleshoot some more!

here is one video too. i can see faces a little okay. but faces are too light colored when overlap with image plane. so i cannot see faces. i cannot work 😞 i hope you understand me. thank you.

Hi @Anonymous

That's definitely an odd issue that it still isn't working.

Its possible updating 2015 may help. Are you on service pack 2? If not, you can find the download here.

If updating still does not fix the issue I have a workaround for you!

You can change the material transparency so you can see through it as if x ray was on!

To do this you need to:

  • Right click your mesh, and select 'Assign New Material'.
  • Then select 'Lambert'(or whatever material you prefer).
  • Drag 'Transparency' slider until you achieve the desired effect.

I hope this helps solve your issue but if not let me know and we can troubleshoot some more!

Almost 10 years.
10 years!!
And the same bug still exists in Maya.
Xray active component doesn't work very often.
When will you finally fix this, autodesk?
