Working Units effect Motion Path parameters...

Having an issue with the WORKING UNITS affecting the parameters of the motion path.  If I set the units to METERS instead of CENTIMETERS, the Motion Path U values go down to an impossibly small 0.0 - 0.01 range instead of a 0.0 - 1.0 range.

I figured this is a 2016 problem, but nope, happens in 2014, too.  I hardly ever change the units, but this project was easier to work in the METER range.

Lesson learned:  Don't change working units.  They should remove the option, really.  It only causes problems.  The other time I changed the units, my fluid/particle simulations got so screwed up I had to start over.

I wouldn't recommend changing the units ever int he middle of a any project.  Either do it before of don't do it.

I wish Maya would let you use a template scene when you start Maya.

I created my own and use it to start Maya instead of using the app exe.

@slimboJoe unfortunately you are right i can confirm this behaviour. doesn´t make sense and should be reported as a bug since the parameter range of the motion path has nothing to do with scene units imo and should work whatever units are chosen.

@J450NP13 no need for wishes it´s there since a long, long time just have a look at the "new scene" option box.

Agreed.  Both times I had issues, I changed the units at the start of the project.  I just don't get why the distance (linear) measurements would affect the U value of the motion path.  The math works out.  Using METER divides the U value by 100.  Am I wrong in thinking that the two having nothing to do with each other (U value of a curve and linear measuement)?

like i said imo as well it´s not related to each other.

@J450NP13 the oldest docs i was able to find with a quick google search are from maya 8.5 and it´s documented but  from my memory i would say it´s there since ever.

Sorry, I wrote that before refreshing my browser.  Thanks for confirming.  I will submit the bug.  It's probably been submitted before.  Do you happen to know if there is a bug repository where I can check?

Hi Guys,

Well a per slimbojoe's request, this issue has been logged in our system and the Maya Development team will be dealing with it in a timely manner, again thank you to every one bringing to our attention any issues or reproducible bugs.  It's these bugs that get noticed that get fixed.  We really appreciate the extra eyes and ears out there helping us make Maya better and better.

Cheers and best of luck on all your awesome Maya projects out there!!

Thank you, Housein!  You have single handedly restored my faith not only in Maya, but Autodesk as a company.  Thank you for your help.  It came at the exact moment I needed it.

Not sure of the etiquette here.  To mark as a solution is not quite right.  The soultion seems to be "Do not change the units!"  Definately deserves a KUDOS, though.

I only mark as solution because of how the forums work.  If we just keep responding and I have a case attached to this, it keeps opening it on my end.  The only way to make it stop opening the case is to either cancel this or accept as solution.. yeah I get not other choices.. I don't want to cancel.. I agree with you, not the best reply.  thanks again for the kind words, and best of luck out there!
