Why plugging a texture into noise amplitude does absolutely nothing?

I applied a noise texture as deformation on a flat surface, and I wanted to apply a second map in the amplitude channel using a gradient as a transition effect for that deformation.

Nothing is happening though. What am I doing wrong here? Do I need to do some data conversion?

Are you using the texture deformer? can you show a screenshot that shows the issue? Or even better a file.

Yes it's a texture deformer. I've attached the project.

edit: sorry, my maya login made me post through a different account without realizing.

Ramp.jpgI just applied a ramp to the  color gain so I can still tweak the amplitude.

The ramp will give you more control than a texture mask. Also center your Uvs

I hope that helps  Dennis.
