Then search for what you want, some artists have made their models free for everyone to enjoy.
But obviously respect the artist by not using it for commercial use (unless they say otherwise).
But for starting out that would be a good place to start in order to see how Maya functions with a simple model.
But most of the fun is making them yourself (just my opinion though, I know its not for everyone)
