Weird error when opening a scene from a Recent files menu

When opening scenes from recent files menu, I get this error and then file loads as empty scene. But if I open the scene from file location it loads as normal. This doesn't happen with every scene, just some of them, and is more annoying then problematic.weird-error-when-opening-a-scene-from-a-recent-files-menu-v0-af05a24sb0ge1_png.png

Hi @Haykuhi97 ,

Thanks for bringing this issue to the forums. I have a few questions:

  • What version of Maya are you using when this happens? I do see there was a resolved issue from Maya 2023 update 3 that might have had a similar issue.
  • Have you tried resetting your preferences to see if that resolves the issue?
  • Have you seen a difference between it loading a Maya ASCII file vs Mb file type?

Let me know how its going, and I hope my above suggestions help you 😄

Warm regards,

Hello @hagen.deloss. Thank you for the reply.

  • I'm using Maya version 2022.4, I've had this version for a while and this issue is a new thing.
  • The issue seems to be resolved after resetting the preferences, but I have a lot of custom things and would love to keep my old preferences if there's other way to fix this.
  • Happens both with .mb and .ma files. Even with exact same file (not a new save), sometimes it loads normally, next time it's an empty scene.

Hi @Haykuhi97 ,

I'm glad that at least the symptoms aren't happening any more. I would note that without someone more technical cracking into your preferences file itself and parsing out what was causing the issue, I'm at the limit of my knowledge. My guess would be that something within your custom setup is causing the issue, whether that be a plugin, script or environment variable.

Warm regards, and best of luck on your project!!
