UV Editor Amazingly Slow

This post feels like a duplicate, but nobody on this forum seems to be getting any reasonable solutions for why the UV editor will just randomly start going crazy slow. It's worked perfecly in the past, now it is unusable. Any ideas?!

Ay! Hope I'm not late to the party. I usually clear history of the entire object, or every object in the scene, freeze transformations and reset pivot, that helps most of the times.

Having the same issue with Maya 2022.1.

Viewport(s) becomes totally unresponsive if I switch my  low poly mesh (~2000 tris) from object to component selection mode.

A lag of about 3! seconds is introduced which makes fluent work impossible.

The lag is clearly visible of you go into UV-Shelf selection mode and mouse hover over various shells which turn red

after that long lag. Here is a video of that behavior:

No textures were involved, transformations has been freezed, history is empty...

OS: Linux, Kernel 5.14.2

GPU: Radeon 6900XT, AMDGPU-Driver, Maya viewport in opengl-compat-mode

Project file from the video has been attached

I just found out my problem seems Linux and AMDGPU drivers related only.

I installed up to date AMDGPU-"PRO" drivers and the 3 seconds lag disappeared.

Also the start message

"VP2 Error : Failed to initialize graphics device."

disappears.

If I go back to plain kernel amdgpu driver the lag happens again.

I tried everything mentioned and then realized that working with "UV distortion" was what was slowing me down. Hope this helps someone!

Hi there,

Almost 2023 here and we still experience the same issue.

I have tried like 6 suggestions from this topic.

Resetting pivot, deleting history, turning on Loq Quality Display (no dynamic subdiv), restarting Maya, deleting uvmap channels.

What helped was;

creating a box, attaching (combining) troubling object to a box.

Then deleting the box.

This method works for number of issues from years. ^^
