Hi all,

I used to apply useBackground material to objects to create holdouts on the viewport and being able to mask out objects while using Maya 2020. Now that I have updated to 2023, I’m trying to do the same and it wont work.
Why has this feature changed? Or is it now called different? How can I create holdouts for only visualization purposes if not with useBackground?

Thank you in advance

Hi @bibifont

I am in Maya 2024 update 2, and am finding that same material within my hypershade. I would see if resetting your preferences folder works to clear up the issue, but you might need a full re-install if the material is missing in your materials library. Let me know if this is what you are referring to!
