Trouble with front view

Hi,

I am fairly new to maya and am having trouble with the front view.  When I press spacebar>maya>front, it shows me the bottom view. Same thing happens when I try panels>orthographic>front.  All the other views work fine. I have never had this issue before and it's acting up only with the front view. 

I have tried resetting preferences to default in the preferences window and renaming the prefs folder to prefsOld.    Neither solution worked. 

Any other suggestions?

How do you know its the bottom view?

If you create a cone is the pointy end on top`?

The view cube shows that it is the bottom view and also I see the bottom of my model.

You could try adding a new orthographic set to top view
