Transferring maps in Maya 2015

I imported an .obj with a material on it but can't figure out how to transfer the maps correctly. When I look at the model in Viewport 2.0 the color is washed out but when I look at it in the Legacy Default Viewport the color is accurate. Unfortauntely, transfering the maps gives me the 2.0 results and creates less than desireable maps.

Is there a way to bind the Transfer maps tool to a certain viewport renderer?

You probably have viewport 2.0 color management set to sRGB gamma, which is performing gamma correction when it doesn't need to. Try setting it to Raw as shown below. Note that you can do this for your renders also in Maya Preferences->Settings->Color Management.

Thanks for the reply, man. I don't have that toolbar you showed so I couldn't select RAW from the drop down, but I did manage to find the render settings (I think?) and it looks like I don't have any color correction activated?

Also, I jumped on my machine at work for maya 2016 and it doesn't look like I can choose RAW from the dropdown. It's greyed out:

This problem is proving to be quite persistent

Oops...my bad. In Maya 2015, that dropdown must have been part of the Extension package. Sorry about that!

In 2016, however, that dropdown will be grayed out unless you go into your Maya Preferences and enable Color Management.

As for the color management settings you found in the render settings in 2015, that controls how texture file gamma is handled in renders only...not the viewport. Also, check the settings for Viewport 2.0 in 2015...there may be a gamma setting in there. (There was in 2014.)
