Texture deformer / primitive fallof not working

Hello,

 

Not sure if it's a bug or if I'm doing something wrong but primitive fallof doesn't seem to work to affect the influence on a texture deformer. Here I would like to affect the weight of the deformer to be only inside the primitive fallof.

Attached is a basic maya scene.

Hi!

 

Please report this problem (bug?) to Autodesk.
In Maya main menu:
Help -> Feedback -> Report a Problem

You need to add the falloffeval beforehand to make it work as for right now. But it works.

ran into this same problem with the texture deformer and falloff
the solution is to "add the falloffeval beforehand"

but how is that accomplished? I couldn't figure it out from the scene example posted
