Struggling to use my Wacom pen with Windows Ink and Blue Pencil (red circle blocks drawing)

I'm using a brand-new Wacom Intuos Pro L and Maya 2023.3.

When I try and use my pen to click and drag, there's a dead zone where it doesn't register the click until I've dragged outside of this invisible zone. In the case of Blue Pencil, it draws a red circle indicating the size of the brush. I have to drag the pen outside of that circle after clicking for it to start drawing which really sucks because you have to start your line one brush width away of where you want it. The alternative is to disable Windows Ink, but this leaves you with no pressure sensitivity.

Here's a video, of me drawing small circles around inside of that brush size indicator. What's interesting is the cursor is locked to the center of the red circle even though I'm moving my pen around. The issue goes away with Windows Ink disabled. Even with Ink off, it's hard to tap to draw a dot, you have to move the cursor a bit or it doesn't draw anything.

Has anyone solved this issue? I've been struggling with this for ages and I've tried disabling all sorts of things, but still no luck.

I had a different issue with wacom + Maya and Pressure that was really annoying also, and I remember several years ago spending a long time trying to fix this.  I'm assuming that you're using the latest version of your Wacom driver, so if this is the case, try uninstall that version and download and install the version 6.4.0-11  and see if that helps with anything, to me it solved all the issues I had. I've done this in different PCs after and that version seems to be the only one that solves my problem with pressure sensitivity and delay but maybe will solve your problem as well.  I don't know the differences between these driver versions, but is probably negligible in terms of Wacom functionality.

If that still don't solve your issue, just toggle go to Preferences>Interface>Devices and toggle the tabletAPI to WinTab instead of Automatic.

Hope it helps!

Wow! Thanks, Daniel! That driver version totally worked!
