Snapping in Maya

Hi guys, I'm quite new to Maya (I decided to try switching from Cinema 4D after a long time). I feel like it's a great program with its own pros and cons. My question is: how can you easily snap an object or its pivot to the midpoint of an edge or polygon? In C4D, this can be done in just a few clicks, but I'm really stuck with this seemingly simple task in Maya https://100001.onl/

Hi,

Case 1: Snapping an object's Pivot:

1) Select your object, activate the Move tool and tap the D hotkey to edit the pivot
2) Hover over an vertex, edge or face and Shift + click to snap the pivot position to the component
Note: Without Shift the pivot will be positioned and aligned and you can also hold Ctrl to just align or Ctrl + Shift to Aim)

Case 2: Snapping  objects to points:
For snapping objects to points hold V and click the center of the manip and drag it over the point you want to snap to.
Note: X is the hotkey for snapping to a grid in Maya and works the same way

Case 3: Snapping  objects to center of an edge/face:
The easiest solution here is to load the Bonus Tools plugin (Window > Settings > Plug-in Manager > bonusTools) and then use Bonus Tools > Modify > Snap Align Object(s) to Component. (open the options for the most control)

1) To use it you first select an object
2) Right-click on the geometry you want to snap to choose edge or face mode
3) Shift-click on a single edge or face
4) Then use Snap Align Object(s) to Component

Hope this helps!
