Slide a vertex in the direction of an edge, but further than the end of the edge

Here's a video of what I'm trying to do:

 

I'm modeling the wing of an aircraft, but I made it too short. I'd like to make it longer so that it fills out the outline seen in the video. Is there any tool in maya that can do this? A script perhaps?

Reset your tool.

Also your file is .mb....dont work like this , use .ma.

Thanks for the reply!

In the video above I was using the edge transform constraint to slide the vertices along their edge (Ctrl + Shift + drag is the default hotkey)

 

However I should have been using the "Mesh Tools -> Slide Edge" tool. This can achieve what I've been trying to do.

Hi @such8 

sliding components is designed to slide a component along an edge of the surface 

 

if you want to move them according to the end components 

you can use component axis or normal axis to move
