I've noticed that some settings are not being saved. At least for me, so maybe I am doing something wrong.

Under preferences I changed my "line width" under "display" several times. But every time I start up maya, it is "3.0" again. Same counts for my "working units" under the main tab "settings". I have to change it to meters every time I re-open Maya.

How can I make Maya remember these settings?

Try to temporarily remove your env ~\User\Documents\maya\20XX\ directory. Launch Maya, the folder will be recreated, however all your previous settings/shelves/hotkeys will be lost. See if the Preferences are saved now. If successful, then you can try to copy back some old settings files, a lot of testings/restarts, until you get back your sthings.. or hit the wall.
