Hi

I want to select many objects that are the same and set all of them same value (like XSI and modo can do).
If i do that in maya only one of the objects is getting the value

How can i do that in maya ?

You can set values for multiple objects using the CHANNEL BOX, but not the Attribute Editor (not to be confused with the Attribute Spreadsheet).  The attributes (or channels) need to be the same on each object.  For example, setting the translateX works since they all have translateX attributes.  It gets a wee bit tricky when you are working with user defined attributes and certain other things.

If you want to use the Attribute Spreadsheet, it is a bit odd.  To set all the values in there, you need to click on the number field of the first item in the list, so it is highlighted.  Scroll ALL the way down to the bottom and SHIFT CLICK on the last number field.  All the fields will light up and you can then type in yer number.

Actually, you can just click on the column header in the attribute spreadsheet to select all the fields in that column, type a number, and hit Enter.

You better tell Ron Smith that trick before he yells at you again.

Oooo!  Redshift!  Something I want to try someday.  So the Channel Box won't do it?  I don't know how redshift is adding the attribute.  Is it on the transform or shape node?

yep as pshwayka said just clicking the headline makes things easier in the attribute spread sheet. also don´t forget the attribute filter. it´s quite handy for everything that doesn´t appear in the channel box. redshift attributes on the other hand should appear in both the channel box AND the attribute spread sheet. in the a s s ( 😉 ) you find them in the "shape keyable" tab.

Thank you for all the help.

Can I have The official maya request list so I can ask them to add this UI behavior ?

Adding a value to multiple object should not be depended on any external window.  it should work simply by adding it on all the selected objects... the intuitive way... : (

Again thank you for your time and help. awesome forum : )
