Separate united elements

I have an old projec I wanted to reuse and apply materials and pursue the modeling.

In that time, instead of using Mesh > Combine, I used Mesh > Booleans > Union

I'm unable to separate the pieces into individual items. Even if I can see them individually in the left panel.

Mesh->Separate returns

// Error: file: C:/Program Files/Autodesk/Maya2020/scripts/others/performDetachComponents.mel line 38: No vertices or edges selected to detach.

Thanks.

Ooof! That's going to be annoying. Boolean, when working correctly, makes all the meshes one mesh, it does so by fusing and creating new verts and edges. The separate tool cant extract anything because there is only one mesh.

You can select all the edges that border the objects and run "Edit Mesh - Detach". After doing that and hitting "separate" you will get separate meshes. Your object will have no internal faces and the edge flow in areas will be severely messed up.

If I were you, id just re-model from scratch. You have extremely simple geo and it will be way more work filling in the missing bits after the bool seperate.
