Selecting Vertices automatically select other vertices

Hello everyone. I'm a new Maya user and I'm facing a little problem. I'm using Maya 2017 Student Version.

I've attached a picture of the problem.

As you can see, I dragged my mouse and selected only the top 4 vertices (Marked in Red) and moved them a bit left. But Maya automatically selected the lower vertices as well (Marked in Blue). I can't find any option to turn this off. I googled and found some people talking about Reflection in the Move tool but double clicking on the Move Tool, I did't find anything like that.

So, how can I fix this problem so that only the selected top vertices (red marked) are selected instead of both vertices marked red and blue.

Hey,
Try that:
select the object, hold Ctrl + Shift and rightclick on the object. Hold everything and go up to Symmetry and up one more time to turn it off.
