I am currently having an issue working with the files from the Maya LinkedIn Learning course. The first image is how it actually looks as of now. The second image is how the file should look on my computer. The program says there is an issue with the script editor, so it must be an issue with my software/the settings I have. I'm currently using the student version of the program. I've reset the preferences for the program but I still get this green screen effect. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong or what I should do to fix it.

Sorry, I am not familiar with LinkedIn course, however, it seems your scene has lost materials assignments - green color. If the objects & materials are not too numerous, then go for reassignment. You can do this either by selecting the object/s, then RMB>AssignExistingMaterial> pick from the list appropriate. Especially, if the materials names are unintuitive, you might wish to use Hypershade, where you can MMB-drag-drop on according obbject, OR, on material swatch, RMB>AssignMaterialToSelection.
Don't forget to save time after time a new file version, so you can return to a backup. You might wish to enable Save(options)>EnableIncrementalSave for that purpose.
