Saving Error

Hello! I own a Mac that runs on 10.10.5. I'm not really much of a tech person, so I hope this problem will be easy to solve. I was doing an animation and when I tried to save the file it read, "Could not save file "Something.mb"." My Mac has a lot of storage room, and I've been able to save before, so that can't be the issue. But I've tried countless times to be able to save the file to my computer without it working. If someone could tell me what I could possibly be doing wrong I would be most grateful.

Thanks,

     Gavin

Is that forward slash actually part of the file name? Special characters (besides -_.) could potentially be causing an issue. Also, I would try and see if you could save it out as either a Maya ASCII file (.ma) or do a save as with a completely different name.

The issue I've found is that I have been attempting to save as a .ma file. I have also attempted to save using different names. Is there potentially something wrong with the software?

Thanks for your help, BTW. I appreciate that someone cares enough to care about my problems. 😛

No worries, there usually isn't a lot of direct input from devs, so it's mostly the more experienced (and certified) people (aka not me) that get the right solutions 😉

I'm a bit confused. Did you solve the issue? Or are you having trouble with both file types? If so, what version of 2017 are you running? Initial release, U1, or U2? Honestly, I'd suggest 'upgrading' to 2016 Ext 2 SP2 just because of small issues like this and stability. 2017 isn't the most spectacular release when it bugs out so often.

If you're still having the issue and haven't quit the app to prevent loss of work, I may recommend outputting an FBX file with your keys or an ATOM file to hopefully have something to recover with.

Thank you so much! I barely understand anything you're saying, but I will look into it. 🙂
