The script editor in my Maya 2020.4 is unusable because it is constantly printing

# Received string is not a valid utf8 string.

I've deleted the preferences but it still happens.

I found one forum post but the cause in that post seems to be related to a particular scene and the users system being in Portuguese. For me the issue happens in any scene (including on start up)

Anyone any ideas?

By any chance, do you use some image capture software, such as camo studio or similar?
Try closing stuff like that.
