Paint Effects Modifier doesn't work properly with 2019 version

Hi,

I'm doing an animation with non-realistic trees with paint Effects and I use modifiers a lot to make them move and transform.

But in 2019 version the modifier appears at the center of the grid and doesn't move from there. I worked with 2015 version before and it worked great. But with 2019 the modifier doesn't move from its position when I use the move tool neither change size when I use the scale tool. However, the shape of the tree do change, but it's hard to control sinnce I don't see enough what I'm doing because I have only a little dot where my tool is. So, I know where it is but I have no idea of its size.

Is there a parameter that I can change to fix it or is it a bug and there is nothing I can do?

Please help me!

Hi!

This is a problem in Viewport 2.0 and happens also in Maya 2020.

Please report this problem (bug?) to Autodesk.
In Maya main menu:
Help -> Speak Back -> Report a Problem

Hi,
Does 2018 also have the same bug? If not, I could uninstall 2019 and
install 2018 instead.
Thanks,
C

Thanks for the reply.
So, if this problem has not been fixed for years, I suppose it means that
Autodesk doesn't find it important enough. No hope , then...
Is there any version I could install newer than 2015 (which doesn't work
anymore with my new computer) that works properly? Because I have paid for
a 3 year subscription and it results that one of the most important tools
that I need is not working!
Any suggestion?

Hi!

"I suppose it means that Autodesk doesn't find it important enough."

- Not necessarily.

It could also mean no one discovered this bug until now, so just report it.

(It's a problem since Maya 2018)

As a workaround you can switch to Maya Legacy Viewport.

Hi,

I reported it. Thanks.

In 2019 there is no Legacy Viewport. But on the web, I found how to add it.
So yes, the modifier works well with it. There is another bug, though.
When I render a frame, or sometimes I only move the camera, the paint
effect tree disappear from the viewport. It's still there. If I render, the
tree appears in the render. But I need to go back to Viewport 2.0 to see it
back and then change again to Legacy t o work and so on.
In Maya 2015, it was doing that too.

I'll report it too.

Thanks
