No Mesh tool option

Hello. I am new to Maya and 3D modeling too. I'm trying to make a simple marble by following a Youtube video, and at one point the instructor says to combine the meshes into one mesh. But, I cannot seem to find the Mesh editing option anywhere. Now I assume that this is probably due to the fact that my UI isn't set up completely, and I may not have that option set to be immediately visible. My version is Maya 2015.

So if anyone could shed some light on my current situation that would be awesome!

To combine 2 (or more) polys into one select both objects, press and hold 'shift' and the right mouse button. Halfway down the list that comes up you will see combine just under separate and just above Booleans.

Otherwise the combine option is under the polygons main menu and under Mesh. Combine is the second option!

I think what he means is that the "Mesh" menu is "gone".

My guess is that you are in the wrong mode. The toolbar changes depending on the mode you are in.
Try hitting the "F3" button to switch to Polygon mode and see if that helps.
