My View Cube escaped....

Hi,

did I something wrong?

When starting Maya 2015, there is no View Cube visible? (See attached pics)

Have I forgot something to set - or is there another reason for the missing View Cube?Smiley Mad

Thanks for any help in advance!

Best regards Smiley Happy

The View Cube is unupported in Viewport 2.0.  It has been that way since Viewport 2.0 was introduced, but with Maya 2015 that hardware renderer became the default.  Hence the viewcube disappears.

Go to the panel menu called "Renderer", and choose "Legacy Default Viewport" and it will come back.

My view cube has escaped too, but I don't have a Render tab either so I can't switch to Legacy.  I don't have a view cube in preferences either.  Anyone have ideas?

The "Renderer" tab should be at the top of each window pane (Perspective, Front, Top, etc).  There should be six items there - "View", "Shading", "Lighting" "Show" "Renderer" and "Panels"

If you don't see these headings, it means your panel-specific menus are likely to be turned off.  To turn them on again, you can press the spacebar to bring up the "Hotbox".  In the center row on the right (to the right of the box labeled "Maya", is a box labeled "Hotbox Controls".

(This is the default position of the "Hotbox Controls" box; depending on how your Hotbox is configured, it may be in a different spot).

Click on this, and look at the pop-up menu that appears.  At the bottom, there should be a checkbox labeled "Window Options".

Click on the "Window Options", and a roll-out menu will have a checkbox for "Show Pane Menubars".  If this is checked, you should see the six pane menu items at the top.

As for the View Cube not being in the Preferences window - I do not have a clue as to why this might be except that maybe you're looking in the wrong place ...  see attached image #1

These were some better ideas than I had before, but here are the looks I am seeing (attachments).  The program just does not want to give me those features.  They told me the problem was Yosemite, so I went through all the work to wipe the HD and go back to Maverick... still nothing.  My other Maverick machine is fine but I have two more like this.  Someone PLEASE tell me what is going on.

I have the same issue (no cube), but no Legacy option to click, in fact no Renderer tab either. View, Shading, Lighting, Show Options, Panels, but no Render... and no view cube box in preferences either

@jane.venes: your obviously using maya LT so this is maybe a limitation of the version. i never used it so i can just guess. maybe ask in the maya LT section of this forum!? one other suggestion: it seems you are a student so why don´t you download the full maya version?

Sebastian is probably correct - this is the Maya LT limitation. I didn't realize this is what you were using.   My solutions were for the full version.

I am investigating the full version, they did not offer that to us initially. I did however put the Maya 2015 LT on one of our Windows laptops and it does have the missing features. They disappeared at the same time as the Macs, but when I opened a file that had those features, they came back. I am wondering if I am missing an update or something.

Thinking more, I have that LT version on a Windows laptop, and it has those features.  They disappeared at the same time I lost them on the Macs, but when I opened an older file the missing features came back.  That solution just didn't work on the Macs.  I am still waiting for a reply on the full version.  Do you have any idea where I can get customer support that will tell me whether I am supposet to have a Renderer or Legacy in Maya LT?
