MP4 and Image Planes in Maya 2022

Hi,

Before I begin converting everything to jpg sequences I thought I would ask if anyone knows why View>Image Plane>Import Movie is only importing a black frame into Maya 2022?  I have Maya 2020 still installed on my machine, so I tested it to see if I can import the same file into it....and it works perfectly (as it should). Is there a setting in 2022 that needs to be activated to import MP4 movies properly?

Thanks.

Kris.

Are you using Cached Playback?  I thought the issue might be because of this defect:

MAYA-103484 Caching : Image planes : Movies files don't playback

However, this defect, while currently fixed, was also affecting 2020 release.

Let me test and see if I can repro your issue specifically.

Kelly

Great, thanks Kelly.  I think I tried turning it on and off.

Hi...did you have any luck with this issue?

I have the exact same problem at school where I work but I didn't find any workaround if not convertinf mp4 to mov.
I might have to try again reinstalling maya but I'd like to check other solution first.

Can somebody reply to this, please?

Hi,

I'm afraid it doesn't seem to work anymore.  At least for me.  I'll go into the previous version of Maya on the same computer...and it works fine.  I ended up converting my .mp4s into jpeg sequences.  This is actually faster to work with, once you go through the hassle of doing the conversation.
