Maya2017sp4 cannot delete partition

In maya 2017sp4 in relationship editor while in 'partition editing mode' delete does not delete highlited partitions (even empty). Although focus is not in the viewport nor in the outliner 'del' deletes highlited objects and not highlited partitions.

Hi!

The Relationship Editor is for assigning (adding or removing) objects to a special group.

If you want to delete objects/nodes use the Outliner, Display -> DAG Objects Only ("uncheck").

I want to delete partition. According to documentation after selecting partition of the left side and hitting 'del' partition should be deleted. It is not.

Hi!

You are right about the documentation, but in this case the documentation seems to be wrong.

There are 2 states in Relationship Editor , "highlighted" and "selected".

A click in the Relationship Editor only "highlights" an object, it is not a global selection of the object, the global "doDelete" command (Del key) instead deletes only objects currently "selected" in Maya.

See menu (these are the 2 options for you to delete a partition from inside Relationship Editor):

A) Edit -> Delete Highlighted

B) Edit -> Select Highlighted

After using B) you can use Del to delete a node/object cause it is "selected".

You can easily test this with Relationship Editor and Outliner side by side.

Anyway, documentation and functionality do not match.
