Maya application file has stop working

Hi,

I am having trouble getting Maya 2014 to work. Every time I try to launch Maya I get a pop up window that say "Maya
application file has stop working." (Attached JPG)

I have reset the prefs folder. I tried using older prefs that worked in the past. I even tried uninstalling and then
reinstalling Maya without success.

I must admit, the computer, I was using, stop working sometime ago. It turns out that the video card, along with
several other components, needed to be replaced. I have just gotten my computer working again. But I cannot get Maya
to work.

Hi @Anonymous,

 

Welcome to the community!

Sorry to hear about the issue. Have you tried updating your graphics card driver on your computer? It may be out of date, as you had previously experienced some trouble with it. Have you also updated Maya 2014 with the latest service pack? Could you provide us some specs on your computer?

Thank you for your prompt response.

 

The computer is a Alianware 17 running Windows 7. The video card driver has been updated to the latest version.

 

However, I have not updated Maya's service pack yet. I will do that ASAP and give an update.

I have uninstalled Maya and reinstalled service pack 4 on to the machine. I am getting the same message.

Not working. I am still trying to get it to work. The same thing continue happening. Getting message, "Maya application file has stop working."

Hi @Anonymous,

 

Is it possible for you to try different versions of Maya? Are you performing clean uninstalls when reinstalling? Do you have any plug-ins installed?

Hi @Anonymous,

 

Apologies for the delay, we were away for the holidays. Could you try uninstalling, then reinstalling your .NET Framework, which is available on Microsoft's website? To clarify, what exactly did you do to get your computer up and running again?

Hi,

 

As instructed I have uninstalled my currant and reinstalled an updated Framwork.
MAYA still refuse to work.
Asking around and talking to others. I have discovered that when my computer was repaired, one of the components that was replaced was the motherboard.
It turns out that this was the origin on why, "Maya application file has stop working."
Working from that I was able to get the program working again.
