Maya Adding UV Set

I've been working on some environment segments for a while in Maya 2014. Been Back and fourth exporting and editing with Unreal Engine 4 without any issues. Working with two UV channels, one for texturing one for the Lightmaps.
Upon exporting the assets to Unreal I noticed that they were importing with 3 UV channels. I went back to maya and sure enough every asset in the file has three UV Sets..
Map1 - A new empty UV Set
UV - My Unwraped mesh UV's
Lightmap - My mesh lightmaps
No idea where that new map1 UV set came from, and I can't remove it. Would be very grateful if someone could enlighten me on why this has happened and how to overcome this.
