Maya 2024 crashes when disabling Arnold

Hi, I need to disable the Arnold plugin as it doesn't work with vray cosmos.  Anyway, every single time I try and turn it off  in the plugin manager, it crashes Maya.

If I turn it off in a new blank scene it works, but it seems I need to turn it off for all my scene files separately, and when I have a saved scene and try and turn it off, it crashes every time

I'm using Maya 2024, any help appreciated

The easiest fix would be to uninstall Arnold if you dont need it.

Thanks, but I do use Arnold as well as Vray, so ideally don't want to uninstall it.  I just need to be able to disable it.

Why does it turn off ok with a blank fresh scene, but disabling it in any saved file crashes Maya?

What do you mean by "disabling it" ?

Unloading the mtoa plugin? You won't be able to do that while there are MtoA nodes in the scene (like defaultArnoldRenderOptions).
