Maya 2022 crashing when opening file

For the past few months I've been getting an error similar to this > "Fatal Error. Attempting to save in C:/Users/Keldon/AppData/Local/Temp/Keldon.20210926.1707.ma" seemingly randomly.

I tried clean un- and re-installing maya, then tried re-installing windows, made sure my graphics drivers are up to date, etc, but nothing worked.

So I gave up and just delt with the random crashes. But now today, after crashing like usual, it's now crashing when I try to open that file, and I can't progress on my work..

Let me know what I can send to help figure this out.

Here is the latest crash log:

Hello @keldonluke,

thanks for this post! The error message is quite generic, but you could test the following steps:

  1. Please check if the driver of your graphic card is updated. Please check also if your graphic card is supported (> Maya, Arnold, MotionBuilder & Mudbox Certified Hardware).
  2. This is just a guess, but you could try to set the Maya Evaluation mode from Parallel to DG (dependency graph): Go to Windows > Settings/Preferences.. > Preferences. In the Preferences Window, search for the Animation section on the left side and change the Evaluation mode from Parallel to "DG". Confirm with Save to close the Preferences Window:

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Patrick

I had this exact same issue with one of my files. Your advice seems to have worked (at least no immediate crash so far). Can you elaborate on what the difference in Evaluation mode is between parallel and DG?
