Maya 2018 freezes when opening a particular file. Maya working for other files.

Hi,

I was working on a model earlier this morning and my PC crashed. Now I am unable to open that particular file eventhough maya is working for all my older files.

I have tried the below options:

1. Open OS native format

2. Reset all preferences

3. rename workspace

4. resinstall Maya

None of them worked. Can someone please let me know what can be done here? ๐Ÿ˜ž

I have zipped and attached the scene file in the post if that helps.

Hi!

You could try to wait if the file opens after some time (up to 30 minutes), but if does not, you should consider this data as lost.

I waited for about an hour but no luck. It is stuck on 99%. ๐Ÿ˜ž Are you unable to open the file at your end as well?

Hi!

I waited for about 15 minutes before i stopped the process.

I am sorry, but the data is lost if the scene can't be opened anymore.

To prevent data loss like this:
1. Do incremental saves (as often as suitable) and from time to time save or export in an additional format (like FBX or OBJ).
2. Delete history if not needed anymore (on individual or all objects).
3. Create backups.

Hey.. it opened up in the 2nd hour ๐Ÿ™‚

There were a few assets with incorrect toplogy which was causing the issue. Once the file opened, I deleted those assets. It is working fine now ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Hi!

Wow, 2 hours, i have to keep this in mind if something like this happens again to someone.

I saw that Maya was still working and memory usage increased, but i did not expect it to finish the process (in an appropriate time, if ever)

Usually something like this is a problem if history.

Thanks for letting us now that the scene opened after some more time.
