Maya 2018 Bifrost doesn't exist

I have installed Maya 2018 through the installer, (on macOS), and while Maya works fine, Bifrost doesn't exist. Was Bifrost removed? Bifrost worked fine in 2017. If it's a plugin it's nowhere to be found in the plugin manager. The only thing I've seen is a bifrost panel with nothing in it. I chose to install Bifrost in the installer as well, so I don't see why it's disappeared. Originally Arnold was also missing, but I fixed that by installing it through the solid angle installer instead of installing through the Maya installer.

Any ideas?

I'm not sure for the Mac.

Can you check if it is installed?

Try run the installer and make sure Bifrost is checked for installation.

Bifrost is definitely checked in the installer. Also, a bifrost folder exists at the install location, but still no plugin in the manager.

Hi!

I recommend to uninstall and do a complete re-installation of Maya and Components.

Make sure no other processes disturbs Maya during the installation, so don't do any other stuff while installing Maya.

You also should make sure that no virus scanner is blocking installation of files.

I have done a complete reinstall of Maya. I've even deleted all the files associated with Maya, and tried reinstall, but Bifrost is still missing. Also, I don't have any Antivirus (mac)

You also uninstalled Bifrost and Arnold (these are separate installers) before?

If yes, then i have no idea what else you could try.

For Arnold, yes, for Bifrost, I've only installed it through the default maya installer. Is there another Bifrost installer that I've missed?

On windows Bifrost is a separate installer since Maya 2018 (should be the same for mac).

The Bifrost plugin installer is part of the Maya setup.

Check your %TEMP% folder for a Bifrost install log (it will have a name like Autodesk_Maya_2018.1.Setup_20170914134132_002_Bifrost2018.1_Update.log

What folder would the TEMP folder be for Mac (that folder doesnt exist on macOS)

Hi Phil,

If BiFrost has been installed, the only two things I can think of would be to reset your preferences (as it may reset you plugins list) and double check in the Maya installation that the BiFrost module file exists. Without that file Maya has no idea BiFrost exists (at least that's the way it's been).

• Double click the dmg
• In Finder, look under Devices. Click Install Maya 2018
• Right click the pkg file and Clikd Show Package Contents
• Drag Bifrost_core_20182018.pkg somewhere, like your Downloads folder
• Double click the Bifrost pkg to start the installer
• In the Installer menu bar, click Window > Installer Log

I had the same problem. I found it by searching "bifrost" on "This Mac" in the Finder Menu and discovered it was living on an older hard drive that had previously been my StartUp disk. It was in Volumes/OldHardDrive/Applications/Autodesk/bifrost . I just dragged it into the same location on my current StartUp disk and I was back in business.
