If I reinstall Maya the problem goes away, but I should be able to boot my computer without running the Autodesk Desktop App.
Not to mention, Activision Blizzard games detect Autodesk software as a cheat program, and I have to disable them if I want to play. Fair enough, I should be able to simply disable autodesk from start-up and open it when I am ready to work again, no? Instead Maya will only display the output window for 10 seconds, then silently crash (no error message), and the Desktop App will be stuck in a loading loop. Only after I reinstall Maya (which re-enables it in start-up programs), does everything work properly again, until I want to disable it from start-up again. The cycle continues. I guess I don't have to worry about the software being up to date if I am forced to reinstall weekly, huh?
Before you ask, yes:
- My Maya installation is legitimate, I am licenced by my educational institution
- My graphics card drivers and Windows 10 are up to date
- I have tried disabling my anti-virus, clearing my %TEMP% folder
- I have to use Maya 2018 for my course, I cannot use 2019 because my lecturer said I should not for this course.
Autodesk applications should be able to work without requiring that they are always running on my machine, and slowing down my startup times.
Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit, fully updated and latest version of Maya 2018, reinstalling as I type. It works after a reinstall, but if i disable startup, it breaks.
Apologies for my sloppy writing, and thank you to anybody that doesn't reply with a copy-pasted answer (that's all i could ever find on this topic elsewhere).
