Maya 2018.2 crashing when selecting Vertex, Edge or Face

Hey there,

since a couple of days my Maya crashes whenever I'm selecting Vertex, Edges or Faces. Even on primitive cubes or spheres. At one point in time I thought I had fixed the problem by disabling some plugins that I did not use. It was fine for two days but now I cant fix it. I have searched the crashlog and it seams that the reason is this:

Exception code: C0000005: ACCESS_VIOLATION - illegal read at address 0x00000248
Fault address: DAEDFAD9 in C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya2018\bin\OGSMayaBridge.dll
0001:0022EAD9 Logical offset (see .map file for location)

So far I tried following things:

  • Checking Plugins
  • Restore Settings/Preferences
  • Repair Maya
  • Removing "OGSMayaBridge.dll" and repair Maya
  • Reinstalling Maya
  • Checking Graphic Drivers
  • Checking Windows Updates

System:

Intel i7-4790k

16GB Ram

GTX 1080ti

Windows 10 Home (Version: 1709, Build: 16299.192)

Maya 2018.2 (18.2.0.6503)

I've attached my Crashlog.

thank you in advance,

Kilian

Hi,

I've got the same issue.

I'm noticing that you've got the same build of Windows as me which as the most recent version of Windows.

Now, I've started experiencing crashes after the following three (I did both at the same time):

1) Updated Windows to this version

2) Update Geforce graphics driver to the latest version.

3) Updated Maya to 2018.2

I've found out (in another thread) the the latest certified graphics driver is 382.33, so I'm going to roll back to this one first and post if that was any help.

I'm having this issue as well. It seems to work fine for 4-5 minutes. I'm working on a lot of uv-mapping so I need to select a lot of things, and when maya just ups and crashes every 5 minutes or so it's incredibly frustrating...

some objects crashes maya by just hovering over them with face select tool before I can even select anything.

Hi there,

We have recently fixed a crash relating to the UV Editor - I suspect it's the same one you're running into. The fix will be in our next update release, which is coming soon. Meanwhile, don't minimize the UV Editor - close it instead.

Hope this helps,

Jill

Ahh yes, that might very well be something along those lines! Haven't run
into it in a while now. Keep up the hard work!

Do you have a estimate on when the next update comes?

Hello folks,

We're pleased to announced that 2018.3 Update is now available. Please install the update from your account and let us know if you experience the crash again - we hope this is the same as the one we know we fixed.

Best regards,

Jill
