Maya 2016 Hotkeys not restoring + FBX export problem

For some reason my Maya stopped exporting FBX files with skin and animation.

Read online it happened to a lot of people and I should reset prefs.

so I did. It solved the FBX problem.

Now I wanted to copy the user hotkeys I had before back into the prefs. Copied the entire folder as is.

Maya still won't recognize any hotkeys. I can see the hotkey sets in the hotkey editor dropdown menu, but the hotkeys don't work.

Please help.

* Edit: Update!

I deleted the new prefs folder and renamed the old one, deleting the word "old" from it, so Maya would go back to using it.

Now all my prefs are back, including the hotkeys.

But I'm guessing my FBX export problem is also back, still haven't checked.

Does anyone know any solution to that one (FBX character files exporting without the skin clusters and keyframes, although everything is defined properly in the export settings)?

Thank you.

Hi @Anonymous,

can you try the following when creating new prefs and then transfer your custom hotkeys:

Copy userHotkeys.mel and userNamedCommands.mel from the old prefs to the new prefs.

TIP: If you open the Script Editor and check on Echo all Commands, you will notice that Maya saves/updates 3 files when you create a hotkey:

// Saving runtime commands to : ~/prefs/userRunTimeCommands.mel
// Saving hotkeys to : ~/prefs/userHotkeys.mel
// Saving named commands to : ~/prefs/userNamedCommands.mel

The userRunTimeCommands.mel file is typically an empty file.

Hope that helps,

Best,

Nadja
