Are you using a floating license server? And when you installed did you use the conversion script from Github?

Hello,

Thank you for your answer. I am using stand-alone licence, because I am using it alone for my studying.

Where can I find this conversion script?

Thank you.

For:

Maya 2017

I thought there was one for Update 1 and Update 2, but I can't seem to find them.

I would suggest reading through the instructions, there seems to be some complications with certain things, so you might need to make some edits and or try a few times.

Historically the EDU license wasn't officially supported under Linux.  There are a few hacks out there (no guarantee on effectiveness) to work around it.  It's been a few years since I've seen anything on it, and with the changes to licensing methods the policy might have changed as well.  Might be worth popping over to the Installation and Licensing board to check on the status.

That's interesting, wasn't aware of that. I've only ever hit an issue with the license once, and doing an install through the GUI rather than the command line remedied that, but I'm on CentOS. Is there a reason why a license type would be unsupported on an operating system?

Don't know for certain.  It may have been a restriction inherent with the third-party licensing tool such as not working with the (in)famous "Educational plotstamp" feature.  Apparently it *did* work with commercial licenses, just not with EDU licenses.  Now that its term-based licensing with verification through periodic "phone home" activity, and the plotstamp is no longer in new releases, those issues are likely closed.   Hence the suggestion to check on current license terms.
