Hello,
I'm currently working on a cinematic project involving a robot saving another robot from a car accident. The animation was created in 3ds Max 2023 and exported as an Alembic file to Maya 2025. The scene consists of animated baked geometry, with no reference files used in the workflow.
Resultantly, I am encountering issues with UV mapping after the file conversion. Most of the faces do not show up in the UV Editor when selected. I've tried remapping the UVs using the UV > Automatic tool in Maya, which hasn't been an adequate solution.
Here are some additional details:
Nature of the Project: Cinematic of a robot saving another robot from a car.
Software and Versions: Exported from 3ds Max 2023 as an Alembic and imported to Maya 2025 for texturing, lighting, VFX and rendering.
Textures and Materials: Starting from scratch for the car; have a set of textures for the robots. Need high-resolution textures formatted for Maya 2025 Arnold renderer with a realistic look.
Troubleshooting Steps Taken: Remapped UVs in Maya using the UV > Automatic tool.
Issues: UVs seem damaged after file conversion, and faces are not visible in the UV Editor.
I would appreciate any recommendations for tools, plugins, or workflows that could help resolve these issues.
