Insert Edges Loop: inner edges come out instead outer edges

Hello,

I have been struggling long time with this problem, so I ask you for help.

I only want to use "insert edges loop" for the outer edges, but when I use it on this area, it pulls the inner edges out.

This does only in this area of my object.

Why is it like that?

Can anybody help me?Screenshot 2023-11-13 103202.png

My suggestion would be to first fix this ngon by connecting vertices, possibly how I've shown with the pink line, then try your cut again. Maya probably is simply folding it onto itself due to this.
