Not sure why Maya does this.

Import file1.fbx with "mesh" asset. All is OK
Import file2.fbx with "mesh" asset (different asset, same name), and it will replace the the first "mesh" from file1 with the "mesh" from file2.

I am using maya2022, I have "use namespaces" turned on and "use selected namespace as parent and add new namespace (file name)" option.

I am going to update to 2022.2 but this has always been an issue for me. Does anyone have a workaround?

Where do you get this FBX importer window?

Am i missing a plugin or something?

ah nevermind, found it when setting fbx as file type in the import options, then 'edit preset'.

Appears to work better. Not sure why "add" works ok, but "Add and update animation" replaces a mesh, even though there is no animation included with either.

Thanks.
