Image Plane sequences number methodology broken

Maya's image planes don't load image sequences numbered with more than 4 leading zeros. This is not a feature request as having this design is incomprehensibly stupid. A lot of editing software outputs more leading zeros by default and what if you have a longer sequence? This isn't 2005 anymore please update this ancient design.

Hello, I just did a test with a sequence of images (test4.000000.jpg) as a texture and as an image plane and it worked fine for me. Are you sure you are not using an underscore before the numbers (which After Effects adds by default)? and also double checking that 'Use Image Sequence' is checked?

I have the same issue. image sequence named image_0001.jpg works but image_00001.jpg does not
