Hypergraph node colours

Is there a way to indepentantly colour a node in the Hyperhraph or outliner window? I am working on a technical scene with a great deal of objects in. It would be really handy to be able to group objects by colour just for a good visual reference.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I work with some quite techy guys so might it even be possible for some kind of script....bespoke toolbar etc?

Hi Edward,

The colors for the items you are talking about appear to be defined at a fairly generic level in the userRGBColors2.mel file.  For example, there are statements such as "displayRGBColor -c outlinerHilightColor 1 1 1;" This would indicate to me a "one size fits all" approach...in other words, given the example I just made, an outliner item is either highlighted or it is not, and if it is, it gets that color.

I'm not sure the Maya API allows for more granular control of interface colors on-the-fly.  Having said that, I'm more than willing to be corrected by others who may know better.
