How to remove old Maya versions, when they actually already have been deleted?

Hello,

I have once manually deleted Maya 2016. But now there were still two non-existing versions shown in the App list.

When I try to uninstall or search them, it does notsucceed.

I guess there must be some content left in a directory.

It is also disturbing, because in the Autodesk Desktoptop App severyl Updates for these old builds were listed, despite they don't exist anymore.

Thanks

When you say manually deleted, do you mean you did an uninstall or just deleted the folders? If you're comfortable editing the Windows registry I would try deleting any subkeys related to Maya 2016 found in

  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Autodesk

I highly suggest to first export those keys above to have a backup because you can do some real damage to your Windows install if you don't know what you are doing.

@BenBisares is spot on! A simple uninstall with the uninstall utility or app removed will not remove older iterations. You'll want to perform a clean uninstall whenever you are removing Maya from a machine, linked below.

Hope this helps!

I did the registry thing, indeed it found some items, thanks.

But still the menus kept to be there.

So I tried with Right-click to see the location, and saw a "start" folder. I deleted them and now the spuky stuff is gone 😄dead menus.jpg
