Hi Maya Vets,

I'm part of a team of four students, and our idea is to have 'orbs' floating around the city in 3D space.

My classmate found the following orb, and I'm trying to create a similar model in Maya.

I need to make this and import it to live action footage, floating above buildings etc..

Now, when I try and make a low poly sphere in Maya, I get quads, like this:

Can anyone tell me where I'm going wrong?

*bonus points: my plan is to export animations that roughly match my live action footage, and track these to the footage in AE. If anyone has tips or suggestions on a better workflow (bring the video / track into Maya? lighting suggestions?) and possibly any names of techniques or tutorial links, I'd be SUPER happy!

I really want to come through for my team.

Hi!

1. Main Menu: Create -> Polygon Primitives -> Platonic Solids ("Type": Dodecahedron)

2. Select all faces (face selection mode)

3. Modeling Menu: Edit Mesh -> Poke (adjust "Local Translate Z" to fit your needs)
