grids and image planes won't show up in orthographic views

I have been at this for three hours and re installed Maya twice T-T

everything is good in perspective view but when change to the four panels so I can model from my reference all that shows up in the orthographic views are my polygons

the grids and image planes are all on

my project is due in three days and I don't know what to do

This happened to me when I changed the default far clip plane to 1000.  The ortho cameras are 1000.1 units from the origin (at least for me, not sure if that's also a setting), and since that's further than 1000 from the origin, the grid disappeared, since it's drawn at 0.  I fixed it by changing the default far clip to 1005 instead of 1000, which is in the "Cameras" section in prefs.  If this happened you may also need to edit the actual cameras since the value will be saved to them, just edit the Far Clip Plane value on the camera.
