HI,

I am unable to open Maya 2020 and whenever I try to open I get this message

Fatal Error. Attempting to save in C:/Users/User/AppData/Local/Temp/User.20200626.2220.ma

I fully uninstalled and re-installed Maya but still getting the same message.

I am a new beginner in learning Maya.pls.help.

Thanks

Additional information would be helpful to suggest what might be the problem

Operating System (OS)

hardware configuration, graphics card
any related files written to the TEMP directory
was there a CER diagnostics dialog to send in,  if so, the CER number

there are a number of reasons for launch issues Including; hardware / software / driver configuration

don’t run as administrator

Maya preference files may have issues if from different versions

move aside your current preference directory

Mismatched OpenCL drivers are known to cause startup problems

ensure you have latest drivers installed,

To test: can set environment variable MAYA_DISABLE_OPENCL=1 before launching maya from a CMD window, if this works can dig into settings that may resolve

local Python modules that override / conflict with those within the Maya installation can cause conflicts

in Launching Maya itself it crashes and  hence unable to access any adjustments

Hi @Anonymous,

If you're unable to open Maya 2020 I would suggest resetting your preferences. If that doesn't work, I'd suggest a clean uninstall, and then try giving it another download! The error you're seeing is a pretty "generic" one; basically there are a lot of different issues that can cause this, hence why I'm suggesting the basics.

You can follow these guides to help you along!

Reset your Maya preferences | Maya 2019 | Autodesk Knowledge Network
Perform a clean uninstall | Download & Install | Autodesk Knowledge Network
